Submission Rules
Submissions must relate to American politics or political theory, but we also encourage topics that incorporate other disciplines.
Journal submissions should be academic in nature and the original work of the author.
Submissions should be no shorter than 4 double-spaced pages. There is no maximum length, although an excerpt will be published for pieces substantially longer than 25 double-spaced pages.
Authors should be current high school students (grades 9-12). Recent high school graduates can submit their work to our regular undergraduate journal.
All sources must be cited. Citations should be in Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition, but citation conversion can wait until after the piece is accepted for publication (i.e., citations in the submission document can be in any format). Please use footnotes and a works cited page at the end.
File should be a Google Doc.
Submissions may include graphics/graphs although it is not required.
Submissions must not have been previously published in another journal.
If your work is currently under review at another journal and accepted for publication, please let us know ASAP so we can remove it from consideration.
Remove all identifying information from your submission document (name, school, teacher, etc.). All submissions will be reviewed through a blind review process.
Review Process
All submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis through a blind review process. After the submission deadline of March 16 closes and our staff finishes reviewing all submissions, we will notify authors of final decisions. Accepted authors must commit to a one month editorial period prior to publication. We publish our Fall edition in December and our Spring edition in May.
